The following list consists of all the cruelty-free brands we have vetted as cruelty-free based on our criteria, which can be found below. Its purpose is to help you shop truly cruelty-free no matter which products you need, and no matter what your budget is, anywhere and at any stores. You can use the filter to narrow the list based on your needs or preferences.
This list is for those who wish to avoid brands that test on animals or fund animal testing, and purchase only from the brands that have been vetted as cruelty-free. This means that the brands on our list have confirmed that no animal testing is performed on their finished products or ingredients during production, either by their company, their suppliers, or any third parties.
In order to ensure the brands we support do not put themselves at risk of animal testing, we do not consider brands that sell in China to be cruelty-free even if they use certain loopholes.

Our Criteria
All the brands found on this list were vetted to be cruelty-free, meaning:
- Finished Products: Their finished products are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Ingredients: Their ingredients are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Suppliers: Their suppliers do not test ingredients, raw materials, or finished products on animals.
- Third Parties: No third party is testing their finished products or ingredients animal on their behalf.
- Required by Law: They don’t test on animals where the law requires it, and are not sold in mainland China.

For example, you can look for cruelty-free hair care sold at Ulta, or choose to filter by skincare brands that are Leaping Bunny certified and 100% vegan and ship to your country, and so on. This system makes it easy to find cruelty-free brands that are tailored to you and your needs.

Hi Noelia! I removed Philosophy because although they’re not sold in China, their policy is still to test on animals where required by law. They’re not testing on animals, but better safe than sorry.

In reading Method laundry detergent ingredients, I noticed some of their ingredients are made by Dow chemical. Doesn’t Dow test on animals?

Is Cerave a cruelty free company? Several sites says they are, some say they aren’t, and some say it is unclear. There is a subreddit that basically says Cerave is cruelty free, but not vegan: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/2tg8ew/psa_cerave_products_contain_animalderived/
Someone supposedly messaged CeraVe to ask about the cholesterol and got this reply – “The cholesterol in CeraVe products is derived humanely from the grease contained within the clippings of sheep’s wool.”
Arbonne is also cruelty free!

I recently just purchased two products from Cowshed (made in the UK) and one from Farmhouse Fresh (made in Texas). They both claim to be botanical and cruelty-free. Can you please look into them for me? Thank you!
Since donating all of my Avon bath products this past year because of animal testing, I have been using Hempz lotions and like this product line so much. The Hempz packaging states that their products are 100% vegan. Do you have any further information? Also, Thymes bath products are sold in many midwest specialty stores. This company states on their Website that they do no animal testing. But Thymes seems very unclear about their products’ ingredients. Help!
Does Artist Couture test on animals? I can’t find information anywhere and their highlighters look amazing.
Our two brands, Cake & Delectable, are both cruelty-free and certified by PETA. Delectable is additionally certified as 100% vegan, and Cake’s dry styling line is certified as 100% vegan as well.
I contacted Cake several times, but I never received a thorough answer about your animal testing policy.
Urban decay is soild their products to China in these years, i don’t think they cruelty free now.
It’s a 10 is leaping bunny certified.

I wouldn’t be ending that in a smiley face when the company has a huge leather handbag/purse/shoe line and has used dog fur in fashion shows before. Do not support Marc Jacobs by buying their apparent vegan make up in attempt to get money from another market that has nothing to do with them.

Hey Elise. Products made in China aren’t subjected to animal testing regulations. It’s only if a foreign brand (like Wet n Wild) SELLS their cosmetics on the Chinese market that they require animal testing (to make sure it’s “safe”).

I followed the link from your list to their site. There are 3 stores in China on their “store location”. No idea if this stores physical or online, can’t read what they say.
Those are online stores only, which don’t have the same animal testing laws. All good, and they’re Leaping Bunny certified!
Sheamoisture is a great brand that’s cruelty free as well.
I agree regarding using Sheamoisture. I have not yet used their shampoo but do love their bath products.
Hello. I’ve heard that Urban Decay is no longer cruelty free? Is this true?
They’re still cruelty-free, but they’re owned by L’Oreal which isn’t cruelty-free. This doesn’t affect UD but some choose to no longer support it because the profits go to L’Oreal.
In order for a brand to become certified cruelty free, they have to pay for the bunny per every box of item. Therefore why company find alternative ways to state they are.
They are cruelty free!! Yay!!
