The following list consists of all the cruelty-free brands we have vetted as cruelty-free based on our criteria, which can be found below. Its purpose is to help you shop truly cruelty-free no matter which products you need, and no matter what your budget is, anywhere and at any stores. You can use the filter to narrow the list based on your needs or preferences.
This list is for those who wish to avoid brands that test on animals or fund animal testing, and purchase only from the brands that have been vetted as cruelty-free. This means that the brands on our list have confirmed that no animal testing is performed on their finished products or ingredients during production, either by their company, their suppliers, or any third parties.
In order to ensure the brands we support do not put themselves at risk of animal testing, we do not consider brands that sell in China to be cruelty-free even if they use certain loopholes.

Our Criteria
All the brands found on this list were vetted to be cruelty-free, meaning:
- Finished Products: Their finished products are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Ingredients: Their ingredients are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Suppliers: Their suppliers do not test ingredients, raw materials, or finished products on animals.
- Third Parties: No third party is testing their finished products or ingredients animal on their behalf.
- Required by Law: They don’t test on animals where the law requires it, and are not sold in mainland China.

I have a question regarding smashbox. They’re not on your list because they say they test when required by law but they don’t sell in China. It seems a bit shady but idk What do you think?
Thank you for this wonderful list! I was checking the vegan companies. I was on the Blissoma website looking for a location to go and purchase their products and noticed they sell their products in a department store in South Korea. Their products are vegan, but how would we know if South Korea wouldn’t take those products and test them on animals? They also have a link to a website to purchase their products in Singapore and Hong Kong. Thanks.
South Korea has actually banned animal testing for cosmetics, and Hong Kong doesn’t have the same laws as mainland China. Blissoma is cruelty-free. 🙂
Urban Decay now animal tests.
I was at the store today and noticed there was a paw next to some products. I asked the sales woman why that was and she explained to me that those are the products which are not amimal tested. Apparently as of recently Urban Decay does animal test on some of their products. I’m heartbroken.
It looks like the saleswoman was very confused, because Urban Decay is still cruelty-free and doesn’t test on animals.
From what I understand, the paw by Urban Decay products indicates that the product is entirely vegan. Some of their products contain lanolin or beeswax and are therefore not vegan, and they want to make sure their customers are aware of this. However, NONE of the products, vegan or not, are tested on animals. Hope this clears this up for you!
Did olehenricksen change its policy, their new packaging doesn’t seem to have the crulity free bunny on the back. And their site says nothing.
I don’t believe there was any change in their policy, as all Kendo brands are cruelty-free and they’re still on PETA. I also couldn’t find anything about the brand selling in China. It’s only a rebranding.
I use a lot of Nu Skin products. Is it in ur cruelty free list?
Do you know anything about the brand W7? I have seen it listed as a good dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, but I don’t see them on the test or does not test lists. Thanks!

Hi I was wondering if you’ve ever looked in to this natural Canadian brand Rocky Mountain Soap Company? I’d like to know if they are as natural and cruelty free as they say, and I wonder how their products stack up against some of the other brands you support.

Which I really hope u can possibly confirm is true since I really love the range and quality of they’re products. Also, is ‘promise organic’ a cruelty free brand? The leaping bunny appears on product packaging and it’s made in USA and organic certified. I was hoping u may be able to give me some information on that!

Hi there, I have recently found your blog and am really enjoying it as I am making the change to cruelty free toiletries and cosmetics. I found your article on the comparison between PETA’s list and the Leaping Bunny list interesting and I am somewhat sad that PETA are not as thorough as I would think, considering that people will head their first as they are so well known. Indeed, I did this and found differences in their lists to yours.
As I live in England I am pleased to see Marks & Spencer on your list (a cherished part of the British high street!), but I am curious that you have also added Superdrug and wonder what part of them is cruelty free as they sell products from companies that test on animals. Could you elaborate on this please? Sorry for the long post, many thanks!
Superdrug the brand only! Not the entire store. Usually there’s a difference between the store and the products they sell under their own brand.

Thanks Katherine! I see that Vecua Honey is a company from Singapore, so there’s a possiblity they sell to mainland China. You could contact them directly and ask them if they sell there. Unfortunately I’m not familiar with them myself.
So I am a little confused about some on the list, ex: urban decay .. they are leaping bunny approved but still owned by L’oreal, so is it still safe to assume they are cruelty-free? (I am new to this market but totally committed to throwing out all products I have and starting over!) Any help or tips would be great! Thank you!

HI Suzi! Thanks again for all the hard work and research you do for us all. It’s really admirable of you! I have 2 ?’s. You have taken Method products of your list due to them using water fleas but their website says they don’t? Can you possible check with them again to confirm this? I love their cleaning products but have switched to seventh gen. which work well but prefer method. My 2nd ? is about The Body Shop. I buy their perfumes and wonder if they too are CF. thanks for all your help and keep up the Great work! We all need you☺️
Hi Noelia and thank you so much! The Body Shop is cruelty-free (although their parent company L’Oreal is not). I also won’t be adding Method back because they do test on daphnia. I believe in non-animal testing alternatives (and this includes daphnia, which are part of the animal kingdom even though they’re “just” fleas!).

I think Stella McCartney’s perfums are cruelty-free. Also, she doesn’t use any leather or fur in her designs 🙂
Urban Decay is not cruelty free since it’s owned by l’oréal tho. it should be removed from your list.
Heaps of CF brands are owned by evil parent companies. It’s your choice whether or not to purchase their products (I’m with you, personally), but they’re still technically CF.

I just saw a new company called Bliss. The products are sold at Kohl’s. Can you please tell me if they are cruelty free and or vegan?

Most of their products are vegan, but a few have bee products and/or lanolin.

Carma Laboratories, makers of Carmex products does not test on animals. Their products are made in Franklin, Wisconsin and have been made in the area since the 30s.
Eminence organic skin care is also leaping bunny certified.
