The following list consists of all the cruelty-free brands we have vetted as cruelty-free based on our criteria, which can be found below. Its purpose is to help you shop truly cruelty-free no matter which products you need, and no matter what your budget is, anywhere and at any stores. You can use the filter to narrow the list based on your needs or preferences.
This list is for those who wish to avoid brands that test on animals or fund animal testing, and purchase only from the brands that have been vetted as cruelty-free. This means that the brands on our list have confirmed that no animal testing is performed on their finished products or ingredients during production, either by their company, their suppliers, or any third parties.
In order to ensure the brands we support do not put themselves at risk of animal testing, we do not consider brands that sell in China to be cruelty-free even if they use certain loopholes.

Our Criteria
All the brands found on this list were vetted to be cruelty-free, meaning:
- Finished Products: Their finished products are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Ingredients: Their ingredients are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Suppliers: Their suppliers do not test ingredients, raw materials, or finished products on animals.
- Third Parties: No third party is testing their finished products or ingredients animal on their behalf.
- Required by Law: They don’t test on animals where the law requires it, and are not sold in mainland China.

For example, you can look for cruelty-free hair care sold at Ulta, or choose to filter by skincare brands that are Leaping Bunny certified and 100% vegan and ship to your country, and so on. This system makes it easy to find cruelty-free brands that are tailored to you and your needs.

I noticed OGX and Hempz aren’t on your list. Are they both actually cruelty free? I was pretty sure Hempz was.
OGX started selling in China a while ago (though I’m not sure if they ended up pulling out by now). Hempz is probably cruelty-free but they haven’t replied to me.
They’re owned by a company who tests on animals.
but those with the star marks do not test on animals? just the big company does?
They’re not confirmed cruelty-free. I made a post about it a while back but they got bought by Shiseido right after and I could never confirm it.

I just bought some Thesis beauty products and they have a store in Beijing (according to their website). Doesn’t that make them not cruelty free?

Hi there, can you add Elemis to your list. I love their products but, being actively and vociferously cruelty free, I gave them a thorough grilling to ensure that animal testing isn’t involved anywhere in the sourcing of ingredients, production, etc and they were very firm with their answer that they were adamantly against animal testing in any form.

Me Too!! I contact them by facebook and they told me they don’t test on animals but I’m not sure that they don’t.
Boots is clean. They do not retail in China. They’ve made a statement to the effect that they have chosen not to do so owing to the animal testing situation there. Some have questioned them because of their presence in China, but that is only the pharmaceutical arm of the business. The cosmetics side is clean.
Also, Aesop is now 100% vegan.
Hi, I have sent an email to Aesop, they have vegan ingredients yes but they have openly stated that they do not test their final product on animals but cannot confirm if ingredients they source do get tested….in my mind that means products in their ingredient list are tested on animals and i will have no part in that.

I’ve contacted Omorovicza’s customer service and they have reassured me that they are no longer selling their products in mainland China (and they themselves never tested on animals). Any chance we can get a confirmation on that?

I’m confused by BH Cosmetics! when I search it comes up that they are leaping bunny certified and are on the cruelty free list but when i search their products they don’t all come up as cruelty free. Surely if they are leaping bunny certified all their products should be cruelty free right?
It’s the same thing. If the brand is cruelty-free, the products are cruelty-free. Unless you mean their products aren’t vegan?
Im a bit confused, it says on Smashbox website about animal testing:
We live for lipstick and are serious about primers—but we also really care about animals. That’s why we are cruelty-free. We test our products on human volunteers, not animals.
Do you know if they are 100 % cruelty-free now?
Nuuvo Hair Products?? This is what their website reads: “vegan; sulfate free, paraben free, with no animal testing … 100% cruelty free.” Also, Unite hair products claim “Unite Against Animal Testing.”

I don’t know if I was imagining things or not, but anyway… I heard that they were a Leaping Bunny approved brand and 100% vegan. But when I looked on Leaping Bunny’s list, they weren’t listed. Should I be worried? Is this concerning?
I’ve never had them on my list! I actually don’t know that brand. Did they claim to be Leaping Bunny certified? If so, you should be concerned. If not, contact them directly and ask them about their policy.
No, they did not state that they were Leaping Bunny approved. I contacted the company and hopefully I get a response. I will keep you updated if anything new comes up.

Is Morphe makeup cruelty free? I see a lot of Youtubers promoting their products and they look amazing. However, I won’t buy them if they’re not cruelty free!

Gold Mountain Beauty also claims to be cruelty-free. I contacted a representative and he told me that their ingredients are all bought from the U.S. and not tested on animals.
