The following list consists of all the cruelty-free brands we have vetted as cruelty-free based on our criteria, which can be found below. Its purpose is to help you shop truly cruelty-free no matter which products you need, and no matter what your budget is, anywhere and at any stores. You can use the filter to narrow the list based on your needs or preferences.
This list is for those who wish to avoid brands that test on animals or fund animal testing, and purchase only from the brands that have been vetted as cruelty-free. This means that the brands on our list have confirmed that no animal testing is performed on their finished products or ingredients during production, either by their company, their suppliers, or any third parties.
In order to ensure the brands we support do not put themselves at risk of animal testing, we do not consider brands that sell in China to be cruelty-free even if they use certain loopholes.

Our Criteria
All the brands found on this list were vetted to be cruelty-free, meaning:
- Finished Products: Their finished products are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Ingredients: Their ingredients are not tested on animals by the company or any other company.
- Suppliers: Their suppliers do not test ingredients, raw materials, or finished products on animals.
- Third Parties: No third party is testing their finished products or ingredients animal on their behalf.
- Required by Law: They don’t test on animals where the law requires it, and are not sold in mainland China.

For example, you can look for cruelty-free hair care sold at Ulta, or choose to filter by skincare brands that are Leaping Bunny certified and 100% vegan and ship to your country, and so on. This system makes it easy to find cruelty-free brands that are tailored to you and your needs.

Hi, unfortunately LAVANILA isn’t 100% vegan. Only their perfume and deodorants are vegan. Their body butter and underarm treatment is not vegan. I’m not sure about the rest of their products. I tried asking their customer service via email if there was any ingredient except for the obviously listed honey that made their body butter not vegan, but they didn’t respond.
Also, I recently found Skylar Body for perfume. I love them thus far and they’re newly registered with PETA as vegan and cruelty and free. They have four different perfumes that can be layered. They were very open and cheerful about my quizzing them to death regarding the cruelty free and vegan status of their products, which I really appreciated.

Hi there Suzi:) Just wanted to say thank you so much for making this list, and also to ask about Fenty Beauty. I saw that it says it’s cruelty free on its website and also read somewhere that it doesn’t sell in China, but wanted to know if you had seen or heard anything about it.
Fenty beauty’s official animal testing policy is basically “we can’t share anything about our animal testing policy but trust us, we’re cruelty-free”. They’re most likely cruelty-free, but I can’t add them to the list if they refuse to share any details.
Hello! I just wanted to mention that The Body Shop was sold to a Brazilian company back in August 2017! The company is called Natura Cosméticos and stopped testing on animals since 2003. But I’m not completely sure if they’re as cruelty free as they currently claim to be. I hope they do a better job with The Body Shop than L’Oreal did.
By the way, have you made a list of Korean skincare/cosmetic brands yet? I know that S. Korea has banned animal testing but many of the brands still sell to China (which inevitably means animal testing). I love Korean skincare but it makes me uneasy to buy stuff without completely making sure that the brand isn’t sold in China. I know that CosRX, Klairs, Thank You Farmer, and Neogen don’t sell in China; however, brands like Etude, Skinfood, Son & Park, Banila Co., innisfree, Dr. Jart, and etc sell there. It’d would be really wonderful to have a comprehensive list in English!
Also, I wanted to say thank you so much for making this site. I’ve been making the transition to using only cruelty free stuff and this site has been a such godsend.

randomly scrolling through sephoras china website… whatever I see on there is tested on animals right? I saw a lot of clarins, bobby brown, stuff i knew was tested on animals and stumbled upon beautyblender products… are they no longer cruelty free?

Hi! May I ask why you haven’t included Lime Crime to your list? I’ve been buying their lipsticks thinking that they are vegan and cruelty free (since they’ve stated it themselves) but now I got insecure not seeing them on your list =(
Cosmedix is not listed but they are cruelty free and sport the “cruelty free” bunny on their website.

Hi I notice you don’t have Natulique hair products on your list, I’m pretty sure they are cruelty free and 100% vegan also Olaplex claims to be a vegan product
If a product is tested on animals in order to be sold in China, are they not then also tested on animals if they are made in China? Like NYX, they are called a cruelty free company but their products are made in China.
So basically, any cosmetic company that sells to China, is not cruelty free. OMG
I love this list here! This is what I go by when looking for my products! This list could be made even better in my opinion if it was broken down by category (ie. makeup, clothing, household products). I find a lot of shops have options for skin care products and household products that are vegan and/or cruelty free but am having a hard time finding this in clothing and shoes.

My mom gave me some products from a brand named Melvita for Christmas. She got them at a local organic and vegan store and I wanted to check if it was cruelty free. The first website that came up was this one, that I use all the tine when buying makeup. The company isn’t listed anywhere though, so I found their own website and it says that their products “do not contain animal-derived products” and “are not tested on animals”.( found here: https://ca.melvita.com/what-organic-means-for-melvita,25,1,12873,173701.htm)
I don’t know if it’s only sold in Canada (it says made in France in the back though) but it could be interesting to add this company to ths list if it really respects all the requirements 🙂

I’ve noticed that a lot of companies with the correspondence letter icon have stated in them that they are 100% vegan, yet they do not have the little “100% vegan!” green icon next to them. Is there a reason for that?
