The Canadian brand was an instant hit, and seemingly went from strength to strength in the years that followed. Its LVMH acquisition was followed by a Sephora partnership which was later followed by a highly anticipated UK launch. But it wasn’t to be. BITE Beauty, which reformulated all of its products to be vegan just two years ago, has announced its closure on Instagram.
“We’re so grateful for our BITE community and your continued support over the last 10 years. BITE Beauty is closing,” the post reads. But it goes on to add that its Lip Labs, located in nine cities including Dallas, Toronto, and San Diego, will remain open.
BITE Beauty’s Lip Labs
Launched in 2013, BITE’s Lip Labs give an experimental and creative in-store lipstick experience. Customers can choose everything from shade to finish to flavor (including mint or mango). After that, they can have the packaging engraved with their lipstick’s chosen name.
While BITE Beauty’s products are disappearing from the shelves (they are currently 50 percent off in retail), its Lip Lab concept appears to be expanding. In fact, a new store is set to open in Nashville this June.
All of BITE Beauty’s products are certified cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny, which means they don't test finished products or ingredients on animals. Neither do their suppliers or any third-parties, and they also don't sell their products where animal testing is required by law.
However, LVMH, its parent company, is not certified cruelty-free.
