K-Beauty Brand AXIS-Y Receives Cruelty-Free Certification

Climate-inspired Korean skincare brand AXIS-Y has received a cruelty-free certification from Cruelty-Free Kitty, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to ethical beauty products.

Founded in 2019, AXIS-Y’s products are formulated to address skincare concerns that are climate-specific, like humidity-caused acne, for example. The brand, which describes itself as community-focused, is also vegan and dedicated to the use of effective, natural ingredients, like mugwort, cucumber, green apple, and root shine muscat. 

To ensure the performance and safety of its products, AXIS-Y relies on skin irritation clinical trials, without the use of animal testing. Cruelty-Free Kitty has confirmed this claim through a robust documentation process, which ensures that no animal testing occurs at any stage of production anywhere in the world. 

“As a brand, it has always been crucial for us to only develop cruelty-free products,” a spokesperson for AXIS-Y confirmed. “We see no reason for animals to come to harm because of any products and it was always the plan to only have cruelty-free products. Being a climate-inspired brand, there was never a doubt about this aspect of our brand. We wanted to do what we could to help our environment, including the animals, rather than hurt it.”

Prior to Cruelty-Free Kitty’s certification, AXIS-Y has demonstrated a commitment to sustainability on multiple occasions. Its 5.5 Skincare Community Day social media campaign, which takes place on May 5 every year, has enabled the brand to donate to nonprofits including the California-based NGO Coral Reef Alliance and international conservation organization WWF.

On Earth Day 2022, it also helped to clean up pollution from the Han River in Seoul. “On this day we successfully collected a total of 50 big bags full of garbage from around the river,” AXIS-Y’s spokesperson continued. “We ended the clean up by going to a vegan restaurant for a shared meal, which helped to further spread awareness of the potentials of vegan food and how eating a more sustainable, plant-based diet can help the environment.”

Now, with the Cruelty-Free Kitty certification, AXIS-Y can reassure customers that, as well as environmental responsibility, it also takes animal welfare seriously.
