Parent Company

In 2016, Too Faced was acquired by Estée Lauder. This means that Too Faced is now owned by a parent company that tests on animals. However, Too Faced has remained cruelty-free as a brand following this acquisition, and is committed to remaining 100% cruelty-free.

The following statement was made by co-founder Jerrod Blandino:

“My values, morals and heart will never change. I have built my life and my company with love, kindness, positivity and compassion for animals and all of God’s creatures. That will NEVER change. This is way bigger than business for me, it’s my life and my heart at the deepest level. It means everything to me. We have been a champion for animals since our beginning in 1998 and that has only grown stronger and more powerful with every passing day. Rest assured we continue to have iron-clad rules in place that will ensure we will NEVER test on animals and we will NOT sell in China. I’m truly honored that we continue to be supported and acknowledged by @peta (link in bio). Thank you for your passion and support for animals, I’m grateful you’ve used your voices to ensure animals are protected and treated with kindness and love. I’m right there with you and always will be.”

How We Classify Brands Like Too Faced As Cruelty-Free

We communicate directly with brands regarding their animal testing policy. Brands are only added to our cruelty-free directory once they answer all our questions and they meet our cruelty-free criteria.

  • Does your brand test on animals, for either finished products or ingredients?
  • Do your suppliers test on animals? How do you ensure this?
  • Do any third-parties test on animals on your behalf?
  • Do you test on animals where required by law?
  • In which countries are your products sold (excluding online sales)?

Learn more about the Cruelty-Free 5 (our cruelty-free criteria) and why we ask brands these specific questions.

Some brands are listed as cruelty-free by organizations such as PETA or the Leaping Bunny program. These brands are not automatically added to our list, and we sometimes find that PETA-approved brands don’t meet our cruelty-free criteria.
