Spring is just around the corner, which means that winter is finally gone! It also means that I’m revamping my skincare routine. In this post, I’m going to show you my current skincare routine using Paula’s Choice products.
About My Skin Type & The Redness Relief Line
I have combination skin that’s redness-prone with mild rosacea. My T-Zone is slightly on the oily side, and the rest of my face is on the dry side.
I was given the CALM Redness Relief Kit, which consists of 6 products that are perfect for redness-prone skin that’s normal to dry. I was also given the Resist C15 Super Booster to help with stubborn acne scars and brighten.
This kit is ideal for my specific skin type, but keep in mind that Paula’s Choice covers ALL skin types and any skin concern you might be struggling with.
Below is my routine. In the morning, I keep it minimal and only exfoliate and use serums in the evenings.
Step 1: Cleanse with Redness Relief Cleanser
Step 2: Tone with Redness Relief Toner
Step 3: Moisturize with Redness Relief SPF 30 Mineral Moisturizer
Step 1: Remove Makeup with Redness Relief Cleanser
Step 2: Tone with Redness Relief Toner
Step 3: Exfoliate with Redness Relief 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant
Step 4: Treat with Redness Relief Repairing Serum + Resist C15 Super Booster
Step 5: Moisturize with Redness Relief Moisturizer
All the products from the Redness Relief line work great with my sensitive, mostly-dry skin and I’ve used some of them before.
This is one of my favorite cleansers of all time, and I always find myself going back to it. If you have sensitive and/or dry skin, you’re going to love it as well. It’s a gentle cream cleanser that leaves my skin super soft and hydrated.
It gets rid of dirt and impurities, and it also removes makeup when used with a cleansing cloth. It feels very creamy and luxurious and it doesn’t dry out my skin in the slightest, nor aggravates my sensitive skin.
This toner hydrates and soothes the skin immediately after cleansing. Rather than being completely liquid like most toners, it has a milky texture that makes it perfect for drier, sensitive skin types. You apply it to your face with a cotton pad and leave it on without rinsing.
It contains Sodium Hyaluronate, which is a form of Hyaluronic Acid. This ingredient is very effective to hydrate and replenish the skin, and it also has anti-aging benefits. This toner doesn’t irritate or burn my skin.
I prefer using chemical exfoliants to physical exfoliants, which can be quite harsh especially if your skin is sensitive. Paula’s Choice offers many options for exfoliants, but this one is the most gentle since it’s a lotion and contain 1% BHA (if your skin isn’t sensitive, they offer more concentrated versions too).
Exfoliating is always a step in my skincare routine because it removes dead skin cells to get rid of any bumpiness and discoloration. BHA (Salicylic Acid) is also used to treat acne, so it keeps any occasional breakouts I usually have at bay. This product helps unclog pores, diminishes redness and minimizes fine lines. A must-have for sensitive skin types who want glowing skin.
This is a treatment that should be applied after toning and before moisturizing. It’s packed with ingredients that soothe and restore the skin (Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, Licorice Root) and everything is gentle enough for sensitive skin while providing effective anti-aging treatment.
It comes in a small format (1oz) but a little bit of this product goes a long way and it spreads easily. It absorbs quickly and dries completely matte, so it’s best to apply a moisturizer on top.
This moisturizer doesn’t contain SPF and is marketed towards night time use, but it works beautifully as a daytime moisturizer if you have dry skin (followed by any sunscreen and/or foundation).
In the winter, I like to use Paula’s Choice Moisture Boost Hydrating Treatment Cream, which is very thick and rich. I’ve switched to the Redness Relief Moisturizer now that it’s getting more humid and it still provides plenty of moisture. I love that these moisturizers contain no fragrance and are formulated to be gentle enough for sensitive skin. They also don’t ever break me out.
Many physical sunscreens are white and opaque, leaving a white cast that doesn’t disappear. This one is different, and boy am I happy I found it! It’s white when it comes out of the tube, but the white cast completely goes away as you spread it on your face.
It also leaves my skin soft and moisturized. It feels just like applying a regular moisturizer and creates the perfect base for makeup without being overly matte. It doesn’t have any fragrance, which is a bonus for sensitive skin.
This is an everyday Spring staple in my book! If you have dry skin, I highly recommend it.
This is a concentrated Vitamin C product (it contains 15% pure Vitamin C). I was given this one to help with hyperpigmentation (it claims to “dramatically brighten uneven skin”) since I have dark acne scars, uneven tone, and some redness. It also diminishes wrinkles and fine lines, so it adds another anti-aging boost to this routine.
You can use it on its own or mix it in with your serum or moisturizer, which is really handy. I like to have as few steps to my routine as possible, so I mix 3 drops into the CALM Redness Relief Repairing Serum. It’s quick, easy, and makes the serum even more powerful.
The CALM Redness Relief Kit turned out to be perfect for my sensitive skin and I’m very happy with this new routine from Paula’s Choice. I love that Paula’s Choice products don’t contain fragrance or irritants and they’re also effective. The formulations are sustained by research, so every claim is backed up by science.
