Is JLo Body By Jennifer Lopez Cruelty-Free?

In January of last year, Jennifer Lopez added "beauty founder" to her already extensive list of skills. (Singer, dancer, actor, the list goes on). JLo Beauty was a hit, and now the multi-talented celebrity is treating the world to a new line: JLo Body. But is it cruelty-free?

Spread the word.

Hi kitties! We've completely sold out of our August boxes, but you can get our September cruelty-free box for a limited time for only $39.99/month (value of $118). It's shipping early next month! You can subscribe here, but act quickly since boxes are limited!

JLo Body launched last month on Lopez's 53rd birthday. Its first product, Firm + Flaunt, a "targeted booty balm," has already received rave reviews.

Designed for the waist, booty, hips, and thighs, the formula contains pink pepperslim and guarana seed extract for hydrated, firmer, smoother skin.

Lopez told Allure that she created the new line because she believes that "bodies are temples." They "carry us through every stage of life and help us do amazing things," she added.

But it was also simply because the demand was there for these products.

"It was in part due to my feeling that we often neglect our bodies. But also because it's what my fans and beauty customers were asking for," she explained.

"When we dug deeper and asked questions about the areas of the body they wanted to care for, the booty consistently ranked at the top."

Is JLo Body vegan and cruelty-free?

JLo Body is produced by JLo Beauty, which is certified cruelty-free by Cruelty Free International's Leaping Bunny program.

This means that it does not test finished products or ingredients on animals, and neither do any of its suppliers or third-party partners. The brand also does not sell anywhere in the world where animal testing is required by law.

The new Firm + Flaunt balm is not labeled as vegan. However, JLo Beauty does offer vegan products. Its That Fresh Take eye cream and That Star Filter complexion booster are both totally free of animal products.

JLo Beauty is owned by Ascendant Beauty, which Cruelty-Free Kitty labels as a "grey area" company. This means that it has not provided enough information to determine whether or not it has a sufficient policy against animal testing.

If you would prefer to buy from independent cruelty-free brands or brands with cruelty-free parent companies, Cruelty-Free Kitty offers an extensive list of options in its database. Simply select "Refine" and then "Parent company doesn't test on animals."
