Sappho Organics claims that their “luxurious liquid foundations are formulated with natural minerals suspended in certified organic aloe juice and certified organic jojoba oil, providing flawless coverage without a heavy look or feel.”
This description is pretty much spot on! This foundation provides medium coverage and evens out skintone considerably. It also feels surprisingly lightweight. It looks thick in consistency but feels light and blends out like a dream on the skin; you need a small amount, and a little goes a long way. Once it’s on my face, I don’t feel like I’m wearing foundation and my skin feels like it can breathe. This foundation lasts all day after powdering.
Sappho is a green, organic beauty brand, and this foundation contains non-toxic ingredients and is free of parabens and synthetic fragrance; it still has a faint pleasant smell from the essential oils.
As for the shade, Mia (the lightest shade) fits me the best. It’s described as having slight pink undertones, but it’s close enough to neutral to match my slightly yellow undertones. Leisha, the next shade up, is on the yellow side. Here are the swatches:
- Non-toxic and organic ingredients.
- Lightweight, breathable while providing medium coverage.
- Velvetty-smooth finish that looks natural.
- A little goes a long way; bottle lasts a while.
- Comes with a pump.
- 52$ for 30mL/1oz.
This is an amazing foundation for daily use: it has enough coverage, isn’t filled with toxic ingredients like most foundations are, and feels like you’re not wearing anything on your face. I love that it contains tea tree oil (antibacterial) and frankincense oil (anti-aging). If you have very oily skin, it might not be ideal for you. If you have sensitive, dry, or normal skin, and don’t need full coverage, you’re going to love this foundation!
You can buy this foundation from The Detox Market here. Stay tuned for my upcoming post featuring more Sappho makeup and brushes!
