Lush Aromaco Review: The Natural Deodorant For Patchouli Addicts

by Suzana Rose

May 22, 2018

Because I just finished this deodorant bar, there's no better time to give you my 2 cents! Lush makes a few deodorants I've tried, and this one has been my favorite so far. It's also their best-selling one.

Spread the word.

What It Does

Aromaco is a solid deodorant that comes in a block, with no packaging. This makes it environmentally-friendly, albeit a little bit messy to use -- but it's totally worth it to spare the plastic, if you ask me.

The consistency is solid but melts easily in contact with the skin, without being oily. This makes it easy to apply, even in the summer (unlike some other natural deos I've tried).

It's also a pretty effective deodorant. I would give it a solid 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. It keeps you fresh and mostly dry, especially if you top it with a powder deodorant by Lush.

Scent-wise, this has Patchouli in it and smells like it. I personally don't mind patchouli, but I know some people really loathe it! To each their own. I have to say though: I've repurchased this in the past, and the bars were inconsistent. Maybe buying online from Lush means you'll get different stock from what they have in stores, because one of the bars I got didn't smell like Patchouli at all and was way lighter in color. Oh well!

Witch Hazel Infusion (Hamamelis virginiana) , Propylene Glycol , Sodium Stearate , Chamomile Vinegar (Matricaria Chamomilla) , Sodium Bicarbonate , Patchouli Oil (Pogostemon cablin) , *Citral , *Limonene , Fragrance .

Who It's For

It's perfect for those who really enjoy products that have a natural, earthy vibe. Please keep in mind that for some reason, it does contain "fragrance", which based on Lush's website is synthetic fragrance.

Nevertheless, this deodorant is free of aluminum and parabens. It might not be green, but it's definitely better for you than a standard drugstore deodorant.

It's also vegan-friendly.

Pros

  • Aluminum-free + Paraben-free.
  • The texture's just right.
  • Vegan.

Cons

  • You do need to wash your hands every time you apply it!
  • It contains synthetic fragrance, which seems unnecessary.

Verdict

Aromaco is one of my favorite natural deodorants, although I wouldn't call it 100% natural. Its lack of packaging makes it pretty green, though. It's also effective at preventing odor, and it's fairly good against wetness. I've repurchased it before, but I won't be doing so in the future (since I found my favorite natural deodorant which is Schmidt's -- read my review here!).

Aromaco is available in Lush stores worldwide and online.
