Mad Hippie Face Cream & Facial Oil Review

Looking at the ingredients of Mad Hippie‘s products, I totally get the name! Their ingredients are natural (a ton of oils, natural antioxidants, fruit extracts) yet effective (peptides, niacinamide). I can just picture a mad scientist in the shape of this fabulous boho-chic plant-loving woman! This is Mad Hippie’s promise: advanced skincare rooted in nature. And they deliver!

The Face Cream

Let me start by saying that this face cream hits the nail on the head! It’s one of those products that work for every skin type: it’s very moisturizing and takes care of dry patches, but doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. It doesn’t feel matte either. It leaves the perfect finish and works great under makeup. I have combination skin which is sensitive and breakout-prone in some areas, and this moisturizer didn’t irritate my face or cause any breakouts. The smell is fruity and exotic without being overly strong.

What’s special about this face cream are the anti-aging ingredients. It’s a cocktail against wrinkles, inflammation, discoloration, and acne. The founders of Mad Hippie know how to pick effective ingredients without compromising safety! Here’s an overview of some of them:

“Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid, niacinamide is a potent cell-communicating ingredient that offers multiple benefits for aging skin. Assuming skin is being protected from sun exposure, niacinamide can improve skin’s elasticity, dramatically enhance its barrier function, help erase discolorations, and revive skin’s healthy tone and texture.”(more)

Matrixyl 3000 (Peptide)

Look into Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 and Palmitoyl Oligopeptide for more information. “Naturally stimulates body’s production of collagen & elastin – reducing wrinkles and giving skin a lifting effect.”

“Like any antioxidant, resveratrol has incredible protective benefit for skin. In nature it is found in foods such as grapes, nuts, fruits, and red wine. When applied topically, resveratrol protects against sun damage, improves collagen synthesis, and reduces cell damage. It is a stable, potent antioxidant worth finding in a skin-care product. In addition, studies have shown that resveratrol inhibits tumor development.”(more)

Grape Seed Extract

“Grape seed has been shown to be a potent antioxidant that significantly reduces free-radical damage. Combining it with other antioxidants greatly enhances its efficacy. It also has wound-healing properties. Regardless of the type of grape, it has antioxidant potential. For fighting wrinkles, it is one of the superstars.”(more)

Water Deionized, Safflower Oil (Carthamus Tinctorius), Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Niacinamide, Matrixyl 3000, Argan Oil, Syn-Tacks, Pomegranate Seed Oil (Punica Granatum), Green Tea Extract (Camelia Sinensis Polyphenols), Grape Seed Extract (Vitis Vinifera), Acai Berry Extract, Sodium PCA, Resveratrol, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Vitamin E Acetate, Coenzyme Co Q10, Tocotrienol 40, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera), Steam Distilled Lime Extract

The Antioxidant Facial Oil

This facial oil argan oil and pomegranate seed oil as the first two ingredients, both of which have proven skin benefits — not to mention the extra benefits from the additional fruit extracts, from acai to sea buckthorn. This oil, which by the way smells fruity and amazing, is light and sinks quickly into the skin. It gives me the extra moisture I desperately need during the winter without greasiness. What I’ve been doing is applying the oil in the morning, under the face cream, and this has been a great help. For those of you wondering: this facial oil doesn’t clog pores!

It’s refreshing to review skincare products that are fundamentally natural and have no nasty chemicals, yet are also anti-aging powerhouses and good for your skin! You can buy the the facial oil here and the face cream here. If I had to choose one, I’d say go with the face cream because of all the extra anti-aging ingredients!

I started using Mad Hippie face cream about a month ago, after reading about it here. I get mine at Whole Food, and I know Amazon also has it. I love it. I am 60 (original hippie) and find this cream works beautifully on my dry skin. No more flaky patches and it’s not at all greasy. Also, I don’t have to take out a loan when I buy it.

Haha! That’s awesome, so glad it worked for you!

Hey Sarah! Mad Hippie is cruelty-free, and this was definitely just a slip-up! Adding them to my list now, and they’ll be in the updated pdf.
