Pirouette brushes are made by animals-lovers, for animal-lovers! The founders, Nika and Nina, created the line as an alternative to brushes made from animal hair. Pirouette uses not only synthetic, vegan, and 100% cruelty-free bristles, but they’re made from 100% taklon fibers. This means they’re ultra-soft! They also don’t shed as much as other synthetic brushes.
I’ve used these brushes for the past few weeks, and I’ve been very happy with them! I tried the Gold 10-piece set.
Some quick things to consider:
- These brushes really are soft.
- They haven’t shed a single hair since I’ve had them.
- They come in a travel-friendly vegan leather pouch which is soft and good quality.
- Each brush is unique and smartly-shaped.
- My only gripe? The handles are a bit too light-weight for me.
The Face Brushes
P02 Powder Brush: Big, fluffy, very soft, perfect for setting powder.
P04 Blush Brush: My favorite of the set. You can tell this a bit in the picture above, but it’s slightly flat and has more of a dome shape. Great size, precise, can multitask for contour.
P03 Duo Fiber Stippling Brush: This is the only brush in this collection that didn’t work for me. I prefer shorter stippling brushes, since I only use them for cream blush. However if you apply foundation with a stippling brush, I don’t think this one will disappoint you.
P06 Highlighting Brush: Another winner, perfect for highlighter. It’s dense and packs up enough product, and it’s small enough to have control and deposit the highlight exactly where you want it.
The Eye Brushes
P14 Angle Brush: My favorite of the eye brushes. It’s such a fine, precise shape and it’s also fairly long and sturdy (see close-up picture below). Works well with gel liner. For those of you who use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow, this brush is a great tool.
P15 Tapered Blending Brush: Blends well, a bit longer and less dense at the tip than the Blending Brush.
P11 Blending Brush: Good blending brush. I prefer the P15 for my smaller eyes. See below for a close-up shot.
P10 Detailing Brush: The tip of this brush is very precise. I’ve been using it as a super precise concealer brush, but the possibilities are endless for eye work as well.
P07 Medium Shadow Brush: Dense and flat, great to despot eyeshadow. Not too big and not too small.
This whole set retails for $89.95, and Pirouette offers free shipping anywhere in the world. The price might seem high at first glance compared to other synthetic brushes, but you’re getting 9 ultra-soft, 100% cruelty-free brushes. Plus a brow comb which isn’t pictured above! Plus a vegan leather brush pouch that I’m obsessed with and I’ll be sure to use where ever I travel.
For the moment, you can only purchase these brushes as part of a set like the Gold 10-piece set. I really hope Pirouette makes them available individually, or in a way that would allow you to create your own kit!
