What it does
Hollow’s famous for being a contour suitable for pale skin. I have pale skin myself — in the range of Sibera in NARS shades — and absolutely love it as a contour. Because it’s a cream, it’s very easy to control exactly where you want the color to be applied, and it blends like a dream. This is especially useful to contour your jawline! It makes for a super precise and natural-looking contour.
The shade of this cream pigment is closer to a taupe than to a brown. It doesn’t have the slightest orange tint. The pictures above show oxidation on the edges, but this is only because they were untouched. The true color is the taupe center, and it does not oxidize at all on the skin. Also, it’s completely matte and doesn’t have any shimmer.
Hollow can also be used as an eyelid primer or to add definition to the eye. For darker skintones, it makes for a great nude eyelid primer. Take a look on the swatches on Illamasqua’s site to see what it looks like on light, medium, and dark skin!
- Great for natural-looking contour.
- Taupe, NOT orange!
- Easy to apply and blend.
- Suitable for pale skin.
- Plastic packaging could be better.
This product is hands-down the best contouring bronzer I’ve found for my pale skin. It’s taupe as opposed to most bronzers that are brown and orange. It’s matte as opposed to some bronzers that have shimmer or glitter. It’s also a cream, which makes it easier to control and blend, making for a natural contour. I only wish the packaging was a bit more sturdy!
